Kids say the darndest things.

I woke up one morning, with a very important question in my mind. What do six and seven year olds have to say about some of the important topics of our day? I decided to find out, and luckily for me, I have a six and a seven year old quite close, in my house even. My daughters graciously agreed to be my interview subjects. Rosie, is 7, and Jewel is 6. These are alias chosen by them, they had fun with that! I got out my notepad and pen, and so of course they needed one each also. After we gathered our supplies, we settled and got down to business. Now I want you to keep in mind, that the answers contained here, are their first, original answers. That is what makes it so fun! As a side note, the text in parentheses is my commentary.
A little background on our interview subjects: Jewel is our resident six year old. She loves to play dress up, including my high heels, loves art of any kind and does beautiful work. She loves reading, animals, and lavishes love and attention on our cat, and two ferrets. Rosie is my seven year old, and is also the oldest child. She loves to run the show, loves music and dancing, trail mix and school. Without further ado, our question and answer session! Enjoy.
1. Who is the president of the United States of America? Rosie: "George Washington…haha that was way earlier. I don’t know." Jewel: "Our dad is, no my teacher!" (I fail as a parent!)
2. What state do we live in? Rosie: "United stat….Arizona." Jewel: "Arizona United States!" (Said in her best grrrr voice, for some reason..)
3. Do you like my purple hair? Rosie: "I don’t know, no." (Ouch!) Jewel: "Yes!"
4. Who is your favorite singer? Rosie: "Justin Bieber." Jewel: "You!" (*hands Jewel a cookie.*) Jewel has an interesting opinion of Mr. Bieber, “He looks like a girl, and he kind of sounds like a girl too.” (*hands Jewel another cookie.*)
5. Do you have a boyfriend? Rosie: "Yes, I have more than one." (What?!?!?) Jewel: "KADEN!!!" (No one gets a cookie on this one!)
6. What is your most prized possession? Rosie: "My mom!" (*hands Rosie a box of cookies.*) Jewel: "You." (Here I mention that she is just copying Rosie, she says, “No, I love you.” I am running out of cookies fast.)
7. What do you want to be when you grow up? Rosie: "I really don’t know." Jewel: "I want to be a rockstar."
8. What is your favorite animal? Rosie: "A zebra." Jewel: "You." (I am sensing a theme here…) 2nd answer is Suki. (our cat)
9. Do you believe in the theory of Evolution? Rosie: "I don’t get that question." Jewel: "Yes." (Upon further questioning it is obvious she hasn’t a clue what I am talking about.)
10. What came first, the chicken or the egg? Rosie: "The egg." Jewel: "The egg." (What is your opinion? Put it in the comments!)
11. What is your favorite thing about yourself? Rosie: "I am good at riding a bike." (True story.) Jewel: "I am really good at eating." (Also true!)
12. What is your favorite thing to learn at school? Rosie: "I love working in the computer lab." (Furiously thinking of a way to capitalize on that) Jewel: "Eating." (Not a subject even if we both wish it was. ) 2nd answer: Art.
13. What should my next question be? Rosie: "What is your favorite game on my phone?" Jewel: "What is your most favorite thing in the whole wide world?"
14. What is your favorite game on my phone? Rosie: " I love Ninjump. I am good at it." Jewel: "Smurf Village is my favorite."
15. What is your most favorite thing in the whole wide world? Rosie: "My mom and dad and family." (Awww) Jewel: "Suki, my kitty."
Well there you have it folks! Straight from the mouths of the youth! I do realize I didn't ask them any very important questions. If you have any, leave them in the comments section and they will be answered in the order received. :-) Have a great day!

Okay...now I am going to have to do this with my kindergartners and second graders at school! Too adorable!
Several years ago, I had my students (first graders, that year) tell me how to make my Thanksgiving dinner. I told them that for the first time ever, I was going to have Thanksgiving at my house and had never cooked a turkey before and I wanted their advice...I will have to see if I still have those answers! They were great!
Endearing. Thanks for sharing. And, welcome to HubPages.

Also, I love your purple hair! You remind me of my daughter! She is an independent thinker, a performing arts dancer, artist and loves color! She has the attitiude...if you don't like it, don't look.
Keep writing, Sweetie....love it!
